I have never really been one for competition (except a strange visceral need for wheel to wheel high speed action in a single seater race car or superbike). But something made me enter this one. As I was to discover, this has evolved to become a very prestigious, if not the, most prestigious photography competition in the world.
‘Outdoor Photographer of the Year is an annual competition run by Outdoor Photography magazine. It aims to surface the most inspiring and compelling imagery in Landscapes, wildlife, nature, travel and adventure from around the planet. Now in its fifth year, it has established itself as one of the leading photography competitions in this genre in the world, and attracts entries from professional and amateur photographers. With over 12,000 entries entered from over 40 countries, it shines a light on the wonderful sights and stunning wildlife that can be found in nature’
I was very pleased to eventually hear I was shortlisted, and although did not win, an image eventually chosen for their first Outdoor Photographer coffee table book portfolio 1.
